ABOUT AVOCET BOX GUITARS
Our Story
When Avocet’s founder, Milan Paskas first saw and played a cigar box guitar in mid 2015 he was struck by how easy and enjoyable it was to play. The desire to start building one took hold immediately; the design and construction of cigar box guitars presented as the perfect means of combining long held interests in both music and the visual arts. By the end of 2015, a fledgling business was underway and in need of a name. It finally arrived by way of one of the guitar greats, Scottish guitarist and folk singer Bert Jansch. In the late 1970’s when Punk Rock dominated the popular music scene, Jansch recorded an entirely instrumental album, the title and tracks all taking their names from endangered water birds. Thus, Avocet.
